Pallett Valo LLP launches PV Plus for lawyers

Mississauga, ON – September 13, 2011 – Pallett Valo LLP today launches free courses designed for in-house counsel and accredited by the Law Society of Upper Canada (LSUC) .  The program, called PV Plus for Lawyers, will assist in-house counsel in meeting the LSUC’s Professionalism CPD requirement.

LSUC requires all lawyers, whether in   private practice or in-house, to complete 12 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) annually, of which three hours must be on professionalism and practice management topics that have been pre-approved by the LSUC.  “Pallett Valo was named one of the top three regional firms in Ontario by Canadian Lawyer Magazine in May 2011 and as such we are well placed to  offer LSUC-accredited courses in Peel Region and the western GTA,” says Anne Kennedy, managing partner of the firm.

The program for fall 2011 consists of three one-hour breakfast seminars, to be held Tuesdays from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, at the firm’s offices at Suite 1600, 90 Burnhamthorpe Road West, in Mississauga.

The course schedule for the balance of calendar 2011 is:

The role of in-house counsel in dealing with corporate wrong-doing – Tuesday, September 27, 2011

The role of in-house counsel in dealing with corporate records – Tuesday, October 25, 2011

The role of in-house counsel in dealing with real estate funds – Tuesday, November 29, 2011

“We applied our right-sized thinking approach to designing this series of seminars for the continuing professional development needs of in-house counsel. The seminars are short, relevant to in-house counsel, and allow them to fulfill their Professionalism CPD requirement in Peel Region without going downtown or registering for expensive courses or conferences,” says Helen Ferrigan, Director of Knowledge Management.
