What’s new at Pallett Valo LLP

Without a doubt, 2010 was one of the most eventful years for Pallett Valo LLP in recent memory. We’ve brought on several talented new lawyers, seen our firm members win some exciting awards, and received media coverage in national outlets including the National Post, the Globe and Mail and Maclean’s. Here are some of the highlights:

New Managing Partner

Anne Kennedy has taken on the role of the firm’s new Managing Partner as of January 1, 2011.

New Labour & Employment Lawyer

Jeffrey Percival has become a member of the firm’s Labour & Employment Practice, joining us from the Toronto offices of a national law firm. Jeffrey’s experience includes advising management on diverse labour and employment matters such as collective bargaining, grievance adjudication, WSIB claims, and complaints under the Ontario Human Rights Code.

In addition to an extensive history with a variety of commercial and civil litigation matters, Jeffrey is fluently bilingual in English and French and holds a Master of Laws degree in Securities Law.

New Wills, Estates & Trusts Lawyer

Lisa Sticht-Maksymec has joined the Firm’s Wills, Estates & Trusts Practice. No stranger to the Region of Peel, Lisa practiced in the areas of Estate Administration and Estate Litigation at another major Peel firm prior to joining Pallett Valo LLP.

Lisa takes the time to understand each client’s unique circumstances, both when developing an estate plan and also when exploring the legal and practical solutions to contentious estate matters.

New Commercial Litigation Lawyer

Marc Whiteley has become a member of the Commercial Litigation Practice. Marc joined the firm after serving a year in a judicial clerkship with the office of the Chief Justice at the Ontario Superior Court.

New Commercial Litigation Lawyer

Ted Evangelidis has joined the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice after practicing at a leading Toronto boutique law firm. Ted has substantial expertise in litigating real estate and land development disputes, mortgage and title fraud matters, mortgage recovery actions, contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, professional negligence matters relating to the defence of architects and engineers, matters relating to asset and debt recovery, commercial tenancy issues, product  liability actions, defamation cases as well as extraordinary relief-injunctive proceedings.

Ted also has expertise in corporate and securities litigation, representing clients before securities regulators and other government agencies. In addition, he handles negligence claims against investment advisors and acts in matters relating to disputes in the retail investment industry in both the regulatory and civil context.

The Bonnie Yagar Award for Outstanding Volunteerism

Community Living Mississauga created The Bonnie Yagar Award for Outstanding Volunteerism, in honour of our Wills, Estates & Trusts Practice Group Head. Bonnie Yagar was the first recipient of the award named in her honour.

Best Lawyers in Canada®

For the sixth consecutive year, Anna Esposito, certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Construction Law, has been selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in Canada® in the field of Construction Litigation.
