Andy Balaura is a member of the Employment & Labour Practice and the Privacy Law Group. Andy has extensive experience in advising and representing corporate clients on a wide range of human resource and workplace law matters. He regularly drafts employment contracts, independent contractor agreements and workplace policies. He advises on employee terminations, severance packages, and employer obligations arising under the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code,Workplace Safety and Insurance Act,and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. He has appeared as counsel before all levels of the Ontario Court and before numerous administrative tribunals on wrongful dismissal litigation, injunctions, health and safety prosecutions, and human rights, Labour Board and WSIB proceedings. He regularly provides practical legal advice and training on workplace investigations, and compliance obligations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. He also conducts numerous and custom training seminars on a variety of employment law topics.
Joe Conte leads the Business Law Practice and is a member of the Insolvency & Corporate Restructuring Practice and the Privacy Law Group. Joe’s exceptional financial and general business acumen enhances his strong track record in executing complex corporate transactions and other commercially driven projects. Joe’s diversified background includes debtor/creditor secured transactions and insolvency law with significant exposure to general corporate and commercial law, employment law, mergers & acquisitions, compliance, administrative law, competition law, intellectual property law and litigation management. A skilled negotiator and drafter, Joe is committed to providing excellent business oriented and results-driven service on a timely basis.
Maria Ruberto leads the Construction Law Practice and is a member of the Commercial Litigation Practice. The majority of Maria’s practice centres around the resolution of disputes in the construction industry. Maria provides legal advice and representation on a wide variety of matters including the preservation and enforcement of liens, bond claims, breach of trust claims, construction contracts and general collections.
