Lisa’s practice encompasses virtually all aspects of estates matters:
Estate Planning – Lisa provides clients with thorough estate planning advice. She prepares comprehensive Wills, testamentary trusts, inter vivos trusts, powers of attorney for property, powers of attorney for personal care, living Wills, Will Agreements and the related documents needed to implement comprehensive estate plans tailored to each client’s unique needs. She regularly provides guidance and advice to clients in blended families and to parents with children who have special needs. Lisa works with successful business owners who are looking for efficient ways to transfer their wealth to the next generation. Her experience with both estate administration and estate litigation allows her to advise clients about the best ways to plan for the efficient administration of their estates and to avoid common pitfalls which could result in costly family disputes.
Estate Administration – Lisa regularly advises executors and trustees about their duties and responsibilities and provides them with guidance in the administration of estates and trusts. Lisa has experience in administering estates with foreign beneficiaries, and estates with foreign assets. Lisa also provides guidance and advice to beneficiaries who want to better understand their rights and interests. Lisa will assist executors or attorneys for property, in estate accounting matters and where necessary, in bringing applications to formally pass accounts before the courts.
Lisa also regularly advises attorneys for property and attorneys for personal care about their duties and responsibilities.
Guardianship Proceedings – Lisa assists persons and trust companies in becoming appointed as guardians for property and/or guardians for the personal care, of incapable adults. Lisa provides practical and sound advice to clients both before and after they are appointed by the court. Lisa assists guardians in accounting to the Public Guardian and Trustee and to the Court.
Estate Litigation – Lisa has experience in a variety of estate litigation matters, including contested passings of account, challenges to the validity of a Will, removal of executors or trustees, obtaining orders for assistance and directions from the Court, proving lost Wills, and more. Lisa’s approach explores both legal and practical solutions to such matters which are often sensitive and emotional.
