Monty Dhaliwal is a Member of the Commercial Litigation Practice, Estate Litigation Group, Employment & Labour Practice and Insolvency & Corporate Restructuring Practice.
Monty is a litigation generalist, with experience in many areas of complex litigation, including commercial, civil, insolvency, estates and employment law.
Monty represents businesses of all sizes, from sole proprietors and small family business to corporations with over 100 employees, including MNCs.
He has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Small Claims Court, Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, Licence Appeal Tribunal, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, as well as private arbitrations.
Monty represents clients in respect of business disputes, creditor remedies/collection issues, litigating agreements of purchase and sale and leases for real estate, negligence and general litigation. He has acted on behalf of shareholders and directors in complex shareholder and oppression disputes. Monty has also acted for clients in seeking injunctions against businesses and individuals, both urgently and as final orders.
Monty further provides advice and represents employers and employees in wrongful dismissal matters, and is developing a practice of drafting employment-related documents, providing timely and cost-effective advice related to the obligations of employers throughout the employment relationship, especially in the fluid landscape of Ontario’s workplace regulations.
He also has experience in defamation, debt recovery, asset recovery, PPSA Security enforcement, breach of contract, insurance litigation, Condominium Act litigation, estate litigation and breach of trust.
